Meet the Media: Angelina Czarnecki, Reporter at Automotive News TV

Angelina Czarnecki is a reporter at Automotive News TV. I edit and write for our afternoon show, AutoNews Now and occasionally fills in as anchor.

Can you tell us what types of stories, trends or issues are on your radar now?
All things ride-hailing, new mobility and tech. I don’t actually drive! So, I’m always interested in new transportation.

Describe the craziest or most fun story you have written.
When electric scooters started popping up in Detroit I did a package for AutoNews Now. So, obviously had to ride one and had a blast!

Though I can’t say I was super safe as I was filming in one hand and steering with the other. If you have not rode one yet, be careful they are faster than you think!

What story or stories are you most proud of?
This year I wrote a piece for Automotive News’ Rising Stars. It was my first article published in the paper and my assigned Rising Star reached out with some very kind words after the story was published.

What elements or characteristics do you look for in a story?
Mainly, is the story visual? We may pass on a story if the visual elements aren’t there.

How long have you been in journalism and how did you get started?

I graduated from Wayne State University and began managing the student radio station in 2012. I had a show on the station called “Michigan Movement” which is floating around on Soundcloud! I started interning for Automotive News in 2015 and they brought me back in 2018.

What advice do you have for PR people that want to pitch you?
If you’d like your story on the afternoon show, it’s best to email at least the day before.

Any pet peeves with PR people?
Please include relevant photos and/or videos on the press release. Especially when the story depends on it. I have to scrounge the internet to find something that will work when a quick photo could save the day!

Tell us a little about yourself (family, interests, hobbies, background, etc.)
I’m 27, grew up in Detroit and live downtown currently. I enjoy going dancing, relaxing with loved ones and again eating food.
