The Battery Show, co-located with the Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Technology Expo, had its first hurrah at a brand-new venue. Now in its 14th year – and retaining its status as North America’s largest advanced battery event – the show welcomed attendees for the first time at Huntington Place in downtown Detroit, having outgrown its previous location at the Novi Suburban Showplace.
One of the world’s largest battery technology trade shows, the event brings together engineers, business leaders, top-industry companies, and innovative thinkers with more than 1,150 exhibitors to discover ground-breaking products and create powerful solutions for the future. Show organizers say more than 19,000 people were expected to attend this year.
At this year’s event, the Bianchi PR team supported three clients as they each took part in the expo and launched announcements. In case you missed the action, here’s a recap:
Automotive fluid pioneer Prestone introduced three new products at the show, its latest low conductivity, corrosion-protectant thermal management solutions created to meet upcoming industry specifications for electrified vehicle coolants. Thermal management fluids such as Prestone’s play a vital role in protecting critical components of electrified vehicles such as batteries, electric motors, power electronics, and charging infrastructure.
Mobility industry standard-setter SAE International held a press briefing at the show to announce the release of the SAE J3400TM: NACS Electric Vehicle Coupler Technical Recommended Practice (RP), a major milestone in the advancement of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. The SAE J3400TM RP establishes a robust framework for EV charging in North America including general physical, electrical, functional, safety, and performance requirements for the rollout of the industry-developed standard later this year.
Global sealing supplier Freudenberg Sealing Technologies was on hand showcasing its automotive battery life cycle solutions aimed at addressing several crucial areas in the lifecycle of a battery, including cell manufacturing, module and battery systems development, and battery system vehicle integration. During the show, Freudenberg introduced three unique new products in its battery product family – advanced thermal barriers, prismatic battery cell caps, and prismatic envelopes.
